Advocate for Illinois Consumers
Pat Quinn has been a tireless advocate for consumer protection all his life.
As Attorney General, Pat Quinn will fight against unfair practices and price gouging from the big utilities and big banks.
Quinn will be a fierce advocate against insurance companies, drug companies, and platform monopolies that treat their customers unfairly. And he will expand the rights of consumers who are all too often left to pay more for less.
In 1983, Quinn spearheaded the creation of the Citizens Utility Board, which is Illinois’ largest consumer organization. As Attorney General, he will stand up to the policies and practices of utilities that take advantage of residential and business customers.
As Governor, Pat Quinn led unprecedented efforts to provide mortgage assistance, foreclosure relief, and crack down on banks that preyed on working families.
Pat Quinn signed legislation to create a payment plan option for low-income utility customers and cap the amount those customers pay for utilities. And he vetoed a bill which would have allowed Illinois’ large electric utilities to undermine the state’s oversight and impose an estimated $70 million rate hike on consumers.
