Statement by Pat Quinn on Janus v. AFSCME

Pat Quinn, former Illinois Governor and Democratic candidate for Illinois Attorney General, released the following statement regarding Donald Trump’s support of Bruce Rauner’s attempt to attack public sector unions and their employees in Janus v. AFSCME:

“I am opposed to Bruce Rauner and Donald Trump’s attack on public sector unions and their employees. I support the amicus brief filed with the United States Supreme Court by state attorneys general – led by New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman – that upholds a 40-year-old US Supreme Court precedent that protects the collective bargaining activities of public employee unions. The amicus brief opposes Rauner and Trump’s scheme to roll back worker rights across the country. As Governor, I supported the right of public employee unions to organize and collectively bargain for their members. See the US Supreme Court case, Harris v. Quinn.”
